Current Media Assessment of Taliban

An unusually high profile reporting on the Taliban, has been given by a particular TV news channel. Unfortunately this must be giving the Taliban a huge public relations coup, and encouraging new sympathy and recruits from the Western World. They have enough recruits from surrounding Countries; more sympathy in Europe can only lead to more terrorism here. Seemingly, if this news is to be believed, a large supply of money is being provided by British mosques and community centres. The documentary/drama which was aired on TV last night concerning Prince Harry, will not help us, it may encourage militants in Britain.

The post 9/11 invasion of Afghanistan could be justified by some; I personally feel that pinpoint bombing of the so called “Al Qaeeda” training camps would have served the purpose, leading to fewer deaths on each side. I give 100% support to our dedicated and amazing troops out there. The move of Al Qaeeda training camps has now moved to other countries, and as a matter of concern, nearer to Britain and served better by air travel.

The Taliban ruled this desolate country in the coalition invasion of 2001, withdrew for a few years, and are now back stronger than ever; skilled in fighting the Russian invasion, using modern technology and gaining recruits and funds. Whole families are spying on the Western forces, possibly too frightened to disobey. They seem to have more hatred of Western invaders than they do of the extremely harsh Taliban regime.

If Western governments took troops and equipment out of Afghanistan, the Taliban would rule again with very little opposition, only fear. I am so very sympathetic to our most brave troops, women & men, and their families. The deaths and terrible injuries suffered; What is the Answer ???

£83bn Spending Cuts

Cuts in Public Spending is a necessity, and must be implemented as soon as possible. Whatever the Chancellor proposes, will be shouted down, from just about all walks of Life. The French Government are suffering a terrible week; are we heading the same way with Public disturbances? Does it really matter which Political Party is in power? There are far too many Parasites amongst our Politicians, we will never again function as a true Democracy. Trade Unions are creeping into control; which Party will they align with?

“If I were” in Government, I would endeavour to :

Stop/reduce Overseas Aid (for five years); particularly to those Countries who spend fortunes on their own Defence.

Reduce our contribution to the EU; have the subsidies that we receive increased.

Cease paying Benefits to EU workers & their families; if they must be paid, deduct costs from our EU contributions. Other EU Countries could do the same.

Cease paying NHS costs for EU nationals; deduct from our EU contributions.

A THOROUGH examination of those claiming DLA/Incapacity Benefits. Only to be paid to British born Nationals.

Foreigners, other than EU, who expect Financial/Medical help; bill their Embassies. May never work, as majority claim “Political Asylum”, but it is a try.

Every time an EU worker leaves a job, replace them with a British born worker (and made Legal).

The list could be endless, really, but this is a start? I have not mentioned Defence cuts; a serious subject, too close to my heart.

Last weeks thoughts…

Good day readers,

That really was a week last week, with the rescue of the Chilean miners and particularly the organisation that went into it. Brave miners, brave rescuers and a brave government! I hope the Chinese government have the same success with their miners, currently trapped.

This week a bit different :

Defence Cuts

In a country in such a dire financial situation (as are others) we all know something must be done. I feel for army, navy and air force.
Army may lose 5,000 troops, tanks, big guns.
Navy may lose 7,000 personnel, but keep two new aircraft carriers with a much limited number of aircraft.
Air force may lose 8,000, and Tornados scrapped. RAF Cottesmore to be closed.
BUT possibility of 25,000 MoD penpushers to go! Public service has been increased by hundreds of thousands in the last fifteen years.
I truly hope it is not as bad as this. Millions could be saved, by stopping overseas aid to those countries who spend billions on their defence.

Terrorist Warnings

USA warning tourists of intelligence on plots for London, Paris and France. Some intelligence came from Saudi Arabia; a good intention if we remember the number of Saudi nationals involved in the 9/11 devastation.

Cyber Technology

Can we really understand what will happen if we are subjected to a heavy cyber attack? Water, electric, gas, telephones, computers – the list is endless. GCHQ, MI5 & MI6 should be greatly increased in size.

Multiculturalism in Germany

Does not seem to be successful: Are we heading the same way in Britain? We MUST control our immigration now.

Wolfhound in Afghanistan

Anything to assist our most brave troops. It reminds me of the Pinzgauer six wheel drive, that we used in Oman several years ago; but without the full armour jacket and modern technology.

Time to go, for today – an interesting week to follow.

RIP our fallen warrior class. Support our brave Injured.

Introducing Joe Pongo

Soldier

Welcome to Joe Pongo!

At last I am proud of being British again. Thank you Chief of Staff and Jack Straw, and his Government supporters, for putting some back-bone back into our officialdom.
They are talking like the majority of the British public talk on a daily basis. It appears the media is being over-ruled on their stand against the Chief of Staff stating that it would destroy military moral in Iraq. On the contrary; our highly esteemed, brave and professional squaddies of all ranks do have brains, do think and do have opinions. Their e mails supporting the CofS certainly indicate this.
Are we now raising a new breed of British Bull Dogs in officialdom – I hope so.
